Dancing (or Running, Biking, Walking) in the Dark

Every once in a while we hear from customers who are puzzled because our products don’t glow-in-the-dark. We love to hear from our customers and will happily work to ensure complete satisfaction with our product. We’ll change the size, color, and style, whatever you need. One thing we won’t do, glow-in-the-dark. And we don’t want to, because reflective products are more visible and safer than anything glow-in-the-dark.

Let me explain.

Glow-in-the-dark products make their own light source. Think about glow sticks, the mystery liquid inside is activated by cracking a plastic stick that emits a bright, limited glow in all directions. (It also takes the varnish off of coffee tables. I know this from experience). Granted glow-in-the-dark is fun (like that summer boyfriend/girlfriend during senior year), but it doesn’t last (also like that boyfriend/girlfriend).

Reflectivity, on the other hand, is less flashy to start, but is more dependable and shines when it counts; during early morning runs, or evening bike rides. Our products reflect light back to the light source, similar to a stop sign. Once a car’s headlights reach the reflective pattern on your jacket, pants, hat, etc. the light bounces back to the source and to the driver. This technology allows drivers to see runners, walkers, and bikers at a greater, safer distance. This is better for you and better for them.

So no, illumiNITE doesn’t glow-in-the-dark, but that’s okay, because our gear doesn’t need mystery liquid goo to shine.

Plus, it won’t ruin your furniture.

P.S.- File this under one more thing I didn’t know existed…glowsticking (dancing with glow sticks). Check out a How-To here.
