Giving Thanks and The Philadelphia Marathon

illumiNITE is back in the “City of Brotherly Love” this weekend for the Philadelphia Marathon. The name is fitting, because we love this marathon and always find something fun to celebrate before each visit.

This year, it’s Steve Sinko of Pine Creek, DE. Steve is participating in his 3rd Philadelphia Marathon, but he won’t be alone.

Preston Buenaga will co-captain this team from an adaptive running chair pushed by Sinko. Preston has mitochondrial disease, but has completed many races with his mom Deb Buenaga. Sinko and his friend Nic DeCaire also started the nonprofit Fusion Inclusion to purchase adaptive running chairs and pair runners with disabled partners. That’s the best thing we’ve heard all day! Good luck to these two remarkable athletes.

The marathon is completely sold out, so we expect big crowds at the Health and Fitness Expo. If you’re near the Philadelphia Convention Center, stop by and visit us on Friday, November 18th from 12pm-9pm, and Saturday, November 19th from 10am-7pm. We’ll have our best winter gear on display for you and everyone on your holiday gift list.

Speaking of holidays…

Thanksgiving is next week and we’re thankful for so many things.

♥ Our loyal customers, who love our products and recommend us to friends. You’re the best!

♥ Our employees, who always go the extra mile. You work hard to create an amazing product and experience for our customers, and we appreciate you.

♥ Our family and friends for their unyielding support, encouragement, and love. Running a small, family-owned business isn’t easy, and you are the superglue that holds it all together.

♥ Finally, we’re thankful to live in such a great, prosperous country. Warts and all.

Good luck to all the runners in Philadelphia, and from our family to yours – Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S We have something amazing planned for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Check out this blog and our Facebook page at the beginning of next week for details.
