Head to the Green Mountains for Vermont’s Bike Season

Summer is just a few weeks away and vacation plans are on everyone’s mind. Vermont is high on our list for a summer visit. Special anytime of the year, Vermont’s beautiful mountains, lakes, active lifestyle, and friendly, interesting people make us want to visit year round.

Cycling is a big part of summer in Vermont and the state hosts a calendar full of events for those who like to ride. From May until October, more than 35 bike events take place across the state. The events cover ever type of riding and skill level. Cyclists can ride in mud-soaked off-road events, 100-mile rides for charity, and events that combine riding with music and beer. Vermont is the perfect vacation destination for cyclists.

Stage race season begins the weekend of May 22nd (Memorial Day weekend) at Killington Ski Resort. According to the website, 600 competitive cyclist come for this challenging event.

If big, group activities aren’t your thing, the website will help you find van-supported touring companies, lift-serviced mountain bike trails, and challenge you to climb the steepest paved mile in the U.S (24% grade up the Lincoln Gap.)

Check out www.vermontvacation.com for a summer full of activities and events geared (no pun intended) to cycling. Whether you like road biking and touring, mountain and fat biking, or paths and rail trails, Vermont has something for you.

Like Vermont, illumiNITE encourages an independent spirit and love of adventure. Take us along on your next outing for stylish comfort and safety. Check out our reflective cycling gear here.  Happy Summer!!
