The Few the Proud….Marine Corp Marathon

illumiNITE continues it’s East Coast tour with a stop in Washington D.C. and the Marine Corp Marathon Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th.

Known as the “The People’s Marathon,” the MCM offers no prize money and hosts no elite runners. Runners go for the love of the sport, the challenge of the event, and of course, bragging rights.

Celebrating its 40th year, the MCM is the 4th largest marathon in the U.S. and 9th largest in the world. In addition, MCM Forward events take place all over the globe with active military personnel running the marathon while stationed abroad in places like Iraq or Afghanistan, or on treadmills aboard the USS George Bush.

The Expo starts at 8:30am on October 23rd with a ribbon breaking ceremony, live entertainment and “patriotic fun” and doesn’t slow down for a minute until it’s done. Organizers expect 100,000 people to visit the expo and have planned an action-packed two days.

illumiNITE will be part of the fun from 9am-7pm on Friday and 9am-7pm on Saturday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. Stop by and check out illumiNITE’s fall and winter gear. To prove how much we’d love to meet you, mention this blog post and win a prize.

“Semper fidelis is a Latin phrase that means “always faithful” or “always loyal”. In the United States it is best known as the motto of the United States Marine Corps.”
