Walking to End Breast Cancer and Remember a Friend

IllumiNITE loves athletes – runners, bikers, triathletes, walkers, we love them all.

We particularly love walkers who walk long distances to fight breast cancer. So we were thrilled when Lori’s Breast Friends asked us to sponsor their quest to complete the 2015 Avon39 walk to end breast cancer.

During the weekend of May 16-17, this team of seven will walk 39 miles around Boston and its suburbs in memory of their friend Lori Dragonetti who passed away from the disease in 2007 at the age of 33.

The team has been training nonstop during this hard, snowy New England winter and working their tails off to raise funds for the event. These amazing woman are committed to their friend’s memory and helping to eradicate this disease. Besides the Avon39, the group has completed the 60-mile Susan G. Komen 3-Day and the American Cancer Society’s 24-hour Relay for Life. In all, Lori’s Breast Friends have a raised more than $167,000 to fight this terrible disease.  Interested in helping out? Team members will be sporting some illumiNITE gear and checking in with us during the event via our Facebook page.

You’ve got this ladies!! Good luck!

According to the Avon39  website, since 2003 more than 207,000 participants have walked 6,868,000 miles and raised $550,000,000 to battle breast cancer. All of the money raised goes to local, regional and national organizations that provide screening, treatment, support services, and research to find a cure.
