Where the Rubber Hits the Road – The Akron Marathon

illumiNITE hits the road again this weekend for the Akron Marathon in Akron, Ohio. Part of the Rubber City Race Series (fun-run, 5K, 10K, and half-marathon), the marathon brings more than 100,000 runners, volunteers, and spectators to the City.

Started in 2003, the marathon is always named one the best races around. Well-organized from the start, the race has enough volunteers and water and gel stations to keep things (and runners) moving. Plus, it’s impossible to get lost during the race (not that I know anything about getting lost during a race). A blue line marks the course from beginning to end, ensuring all racers finish safe and sound. Like all good races, the event ends with a party and the Thirsty Dog Beer Festival.

illumiNITE will set up at the Health & Fitness Expo at the John S. Knight Center on Friday, September 25th from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Olympic medalist Frank Shorter will be there, along with health and fitness information, and a carbo-tastic pasta dinner.

Runners must attend the expo to receive a runners packet and number. So stop by while you’re there to check out our fall and winter gear. Mention this blog and get a gift from illumiNITE.

Good luck runners!
